Senior hurling:
Derby clashes rarely live up to expectations, and this fixture was no exception. However, Village supporters will not be disappointed as their favourites came out on top — 3-15 to 2-12, in this second round league/championship encounter, in Nowlan Park on Saturday evening.
It must be acknowledged that but for supreme performances from the club’s county stars, Jackie Tyrrell, Eoin Larkin, and Matt Ruth, the St Patrick’s parish representatives would have been in trouble as it took a late goal from substitute Shane Egan to finally seal the result for the Village men and their relieved supporters.
70s & 80s theme night:
On Friday, June 17, the Juvenile committee will be holding a 70s and 80s theme night to help raise funds for the club’s under-age structures from U-6 to U-14.
Already fantastic work is being done by a large team of dedicated coaches working on a daily basis with the youth of the club and parish throughout the season. Music on the night will be provided by well known DJ Benny and finger food will be on the menu during the evening to add to what promises to be a great night of music and craic. Tickets cost €5 each and are available from any committee member or through contacting Tony Scanlon at 087-2622321.
U-16 League:
The U-16 "A" squad came out of a tight battle with a very determined Glenmore side during the week with 2-5 to 1-5 victory.
The win was well earned mainly due to a water tight defence, led by James Tyrrell and Niall Mullins and goals taken by Ray Lahart and a fortuitous long delivery from Ricci Drennan which went straight to the net.
