The Devious Theatre Company will present the second play of their ‘In The Future When All’s Well’ season from April 18 in Kilkenny Arts Office.
Described as a comedy about making the first move, Shifting is set in present day Kilkenny and tells the story of a birthday party where a group of young friends try to have one last hurrah together before going their separate ways into adult life. But as the night progresses accusations, fights and confessions come to the fore and things begin to get really messy.
The play is written by John Kennedy, the associate writer for the duration of Devious Theatre’s current residency in Kilkenny Arts Office at No 76 John Street. Like their last production, Scratcher, it will be directed by John Morton who also previously directed Accidental Death Of An Anarchist, Can’t Pay? Won’t Pay! and Trainspotting for Devious Theatre.
The cast for Shifting is largely made up of newcomers to Devious Theatre. They are: Alex Christle, Alan Doyle, Rhian Gibson, Adrian Kavanagh, John Kennedy, Aoibhin Murphy, Colin O’Brien, Peter O’Connor, Ruth Phelan, Connie Walsh, Jessica Walsh and Geoff Warner Clayton. It is a new ensemble of actors for the local company who promise that this play will showcase a whole new generation of talented Kilkenny actors.
