Kilkenny hosts National Youth Awards

Kilkenny is preparing to host the 33rd National Youth Awards, having first been run in 1978.

Lyrath Hotel will play host to the awards, at which the No Name Club Host and Hostess of the Year are named.

The event takes place on April 16 next and those attending the black-tie affair will be treated to a three-course meal that is followed by a six hour disco extravaganza.

RTE journalist Damien Tiernan will be MC for the event and 12 teenagers have made it to the final for Host and Hostess of the Year.

Name Club hosts and hostesses make outstanding contributions to their local communities and to the running of their clubs. These awards are recognition of such contributions and a celebration to allow our hosts and hostesses from clubs around the country to get together

for a night that is very memorable. For over 30 years we’ve been bringing club hosts and hostesses together for this event and expect this year’s occasion to be very memorable experience for the hundreds attending.”

No Name Club is a National Voluntary Youth Organisation founded in 1978 and has 40+ clubs throughout the country. No Name Clubs are run by and for young people aged 15 years + who come together in a safe and lively environment where there’s fun, friendship and enjoyment without the pressure of alcohol or other drugs. No Name Clubs were founded to provide an alternative to pub culture for young people in Ireland.
