Meubles in Kilkenny are delighted to announce that they will be hosting six years of Quilting – An Exhibition of Over 40 Quilts by Irish Patchwork Society.
The exhibition contains the stunning work of the South Midlands Branch of the Society whose members come from Carlow, Kilkenny and Tipperary.
The exhibition will be opened today Friday April 8, by Kilkenny’s Mayor Martin Brett, at a reception to be held by Meubles for the members of the society, their friends and family.
Each piece is without doubt a piece of exclusive art, with some taking years to complete. Intricate design, stunning colour and overwhelming beauty show that the craft of patchworking is very much alive and well, with a wide range of traditional and contemporary designs on show.
Over 40 quilts and wall hangings will be on display at Meubles from Saturday 9 to Sunday April 1 and admission is free.
Visitors can be in with a chance of winning their very own quilt, which is to be raffled in aid of the Carlow/Kilkenny Homecare Team. Raffle tickets are just €2 and are available for sale in the store.
The exhibition is part of the national 30th year celebration of the Irish Patchwork Society and the entries from the exhibition at Meubles will be chosen to represent the South Midlands Branch at the National Exhibition which will take place in Dublin later in the year.
