O’Loughlin Gaels GAA Club news

Under 14 football in full swing

The O'Loughlin Gaels U14 B team played two matches over last weekend. On Friday night they beat Dunamaggin by a point in a challenge game in Callan (O’Loughlin’s have been given permission to use the pitch in Callan as one of their home pitches this year, during their own grounds reconstruction. To that end O'Loughlin Gaels are most grateful to John Lockes GAA club and also Kilkenny County Board ).

Manager Ed Gormley and his fellow selectors were very pleased with the performance and commitment of their charges.

On Sunday they played Railyard in football. In a very competitive game they displayed great skill but unfortunately they lost by two points. Railyard scored a goal from a penalty in the dying seconds of the match to snatch victory.

Four All-Ireland medal winners

Congratulations to St Kieran’s College on their epic victory in the Colleges All-Ireland Hurling Final last Saturday. Special mention to the four O'Loughlin Gaels representatives on the winning side namely Paddy Butler, Sammy Johnston, Jack Nolan and David Burke. Paddy who starred at midfield was picking up his second colleges All-Ireland medal in a row. Sammy Johnston was a class act in goal. Jack Nolan worked tirelessly in the forwards. Young David Burke was not used on the day but has two more years left in St Kieran’s to add to his medal collection.
