St Kieran’s College:
Congratulations to the three Village minors, Luke Hickey, Jack McGrath and Diarmuid Cody all of whom contributed handsomely to the sensational 2-10 to 1-11 victory for the college in the All-Ireland final last weekend.
Junior “B” Hurling:
The Village Junior "B" team got their season off to a promising start with a hard earned 4-7 to 2-8 victory over Cloneen last Sunday afternoon. Coming from behind they had to pull out all the stops in the last quarter of the game to claim victory and secure their first points of the season.
U-16 Hurling League:
The U-16's scored a good 3-10 to 0-6 victory over the Rower-Inistioge in the second round of their league campaign after a strong second half performance.
U14 Football:
The U14 'A' panel scored a very good six point win over a strong Rower Inistioge. The Village boys had to work right to the end as the Rower mounted a huge challenge with the aid of a strong breeze in the second half. Goalkeeper Tadhg O'Dwyer was very sharp in goal and worked very hard, Niall Delaney (no 3 ) and Declan Wall (no 6 ) were very solid throughout. John McEvoy and Mark O'Neill worked very hard in midfield supplying some good ball to the inside forwards. Richie Stapleton was the marks man up front notching up 1-3 during his hour of play. Jake Scanlon, Paddy Kennedy and Andy Walsh all worked extremely hard throughout the game. The U-14 'A' panel will clash with Dicksboro this Saturday in Larchfield at 11am. The 'B' panel scored a comprehensive 8-10 to 1-0 win over Carrickshock in the football league. The Village boys dominated this game from the off and played some fantastic football throughout kicking some great scores. The 'B' panel will face up against Mullinavat in the football league this weekend.
Kilkenny:
Well done to 'young' Matthew Ruth who notched up 2-1 in the Kilkenny senior jersey against Dublin in the drawn national league clash, played in Croke Park last Saturday.
