O'Loughlin Gaels GAA club nominated centre back Brian Hogan as their choice of captain for the 2011 season with Kilkenny. Brian was immediately named in Brian Cody's starting line up to face Waterford in the National League last Sunday and duly turned in a man of the match performance.
Speaking after the game Brian said he was honoured by his club to be asked to captain Kilkenny. He also said it was an honour to wear the black and amber jersey let alone be the captain of the team.
Four O’Loughlin’s men bid for colleges All-Ireland
Sammy Johnston, Paddy Butler, Jack Nolan and David Burke are all members of the St Kieran’s College team that will play Ard Scoil Ris from Limerick in the All-Ireland Colleges Hurling Final in Semple Stadium, Thurles this Saturday.
The tie is a repeat of last year’s cracker which Kieran’s won. The match is live on TG4 for those who can't make it to Thurles to support the team. Throw in is at 2.30pm.
Junior Bs off to a great start
The O'Loughlin Gaels Junior B team had a good opening round win over Erin’s Own of Castlecomer last weekend.
Johnny Kearney was the top scorer with a personal tally of 1-6. Joe Daly rolled backed the years with a very impressive performance between the posts. The final score was 3-17 to 3-6.
