A candle-light vigil is to be held in Kilkenny at the weekend to remember the victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.
On Sunday afternoon at 5pm people are asked to come to the Parade Plaza with a lit candle to show solidarity for the people of Japan.
The earthquake and subsequent tsunami has left at least 9,000 dead and a similar number of people are still missing.
The Japanese community of Kilkenny are asking locals and Japanese people alike to come out on Sunday and remember those that have died and the families that have been left behind with nothing.
The event will take place at 5pm on the Parade Plaza.
