Local girls go Off The Rails

Next week’s popular Off The Rails programme is coming from MacDonagh Junction shopping centre where it was recorded some three weeks ago before a live local audience.

The much-loved fashion and style programme which is presented by Brendan Courtney and Sonya Lennon was thronged with local fashionistas when it was being recorded in the Marble City and the programme went all out to include as many glamorous local people as possible.

Part of Wednesday night’s show will include a ‘streetstyle ‘ section where the presenters went onto the streets of Kilkenny to check out the local fashion. Six Kilkenny women were chosen to come and model their style before the live audience and Eimear Bergin of Jenkinstown was nominated as Kilkenny’s most stylish woman. She wore a stunning cream coat and black woollen mini with a black polo neck. Her accessories included a black leather handbag and a long beaded necklace.

When the winner was announced Eimear said that she was utterly shocked.

“I really couldn’t believe that my name was called out. I was so surprised. All the other girls looked amazing. Their outfits were fab and some were really funky — I really was surprised that I won. “

She described her style as classic and added that fashion and style were her weaknesses.

“I really do love fashion and clothes and make-up. Shopping is another weakness, but I buy in High Street shops and usually buy what’s in season. I love dressing up to go out and I think most girls like to do that as it makes us feel better about ourselves,” she told the Kilkenny Advertiser.

In other events, two women were chosen for a complete makeover and Mary Hoban of Callan and Julie Mullins of O'Loughlin Road proudly walked the catwalk showing off their new looks on the day.

Check out the broadcast this Wednesday evening to catch a glimpse of Kilkenny’s finest fashionistas. Off The Rails airs at 8pm on RTE 1.
