Mayor Martin Brett hosted the launch of this year's Kilkenny Musical Society production of The Hired Man.
The launch took place last night, Thursday at City Hall at 7pm.
The society has taken a brave step this year in departing from the trusted favourites of Kilkenny audiences to produce a memorable piece which we know will be a huge hit but would really be unknown to supporters.
A society spokesperson said, “we are really very dependent on our good friends in the media to help us spread the word over the coming few weeks. Kilkenny audiences have now become accustomed to a very high standard of production by our society in the Watergate each spring.
“However, this comes at a price but in the economic climate we find ourselves in we do really need everyone plugging for us. We can promise a spectacular evening of Musical Theatre with The Hired Man.”
