The Equinox Theatre Company is currently putting the final touches to its latest dramatic production, The Lost Prince — a collaboration with local playwright Ken Bourke.
The group has teamed up with Bourke and director Donal Gallagher (Six by Sundown, Red Lola ) to bring the premier of this fairytale production to Kilkenny.
Theatre enthusiasts will be familiar with some of Ken Bourke’s previous works, which include The Hunt for Red Willie, and Buck Jones and the Body Snatchers. The latter was nominated for Best Production in the 2008 Irish Times Theatre Awards.
In the playwright’s own words, The Lost Prince ‘is a story about a woman who falls into a fairytale’.
“Cindy doesn't care; about anyone or anything. Across worlds, out of a story-book, on an accidental wind comes Johann, the lost prince... Kitty's at her wits end, and Tom's given up. But there is hope, because at the end of every story there's a happy ever after... isn't there?”
The play opens in Cleere’s Theatre, Parliament Street on Thursday February 17 and Friday 18, and on Friday 25 and Saturday 26, at 7.30pm. There will be a matinee performance on Thursday February 24, at 3pm.
Part of the KCAT Art and Study Centre, Equinox is a company of actors, some of whom have learning disabilities and other disadvantages. Founded in 2008, this will be the group’s second full-scale production. Bookings can be made at 056 7755115.
