Clothes swapping the new guilt free way of shopping

Clothes Swap events are sweeping through the country. It is a cheap girl’s night in where a group of friends gather in a house bringing along their unwanted clothing to see if they can find an alternative home within their bunch of friends.

The night is easily arranged. From a group of friends, one is nominated to host the event. The host house requires mirrors located around the house to allow friends to try on clothes in comfort. A break mid way through the evening for light refreshments is always a good idea to allow for some chat and banter. Swap events can be hosted in a different house every three to four months within the same friends group.

Preparing for the event is easy. Everyone cleanses their wardrobe weeding out items that they no longer wear or which may no longer fit. On the night, everyone brings their items and showcases them to the group. Onlookers can nab an item of clothing straight away or items that horrify the group can head straight for the designated quarantined area. Clothes which have spawned some interest can be left in the second chance saloon area in the middle of the floor.

After each friend showcases their items, everyone takes to the floor and goes through the second chance clothes bundle, trying on clothes, taking opinions on how it looks and often listening to memories attached to them. The saloon area bundle of clothes soon decreases as smaller clothes bundles start to gather around each participant. Any unwanted items are gathered up and it is the host’s task to bring them along to a local charity shop. It is definitely an event which is a winner for everyone, it’s a cheap girl’s night in. Your wardrobe gets a regular spring clean, you can score some new items for your wardrobe and the local charity shop also benefits greatly from the evening.
