Would you like to improve your fitness levels in a fun, sociable environment? Kilkenny Recreation and Sports Partnership have teamed up with various groups and individuals to offer a wide range of programmes to suit people of all ages and abilities.
Irene Henebry from Kilkenny City Harriers will lead a Meet and Train group on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at the Watershed track, starting Wednesday, February 16 at 11am. You can start at any age, no previous experience is required and you can choose a pace to suit your level of fitness. Irene is also hosting a workshop preparing for your First Mini Marathon! On the following dates; Wednesday, February 23 and Wednesday, March 9. The workshops will cover general advice and tips on training techniques and some nutritional guidelines. The venue is the studio in the Watershed.
KRSP in conjunction with Cuidiú are organising a new and exciting initiative for parents and tots! Strollers is a buggy walking programme which gives parents the opportunity to take part in an eight week walking programme beginning on Friday, February 18 at 11am. This walking programme is for all fitness levels. The programme takes place in the Watershed. AWalkers Fit 4 Life will start in the Watershed on Wednesday, March 2 at 6pm. This will be lead by John Lennon. John is a Level 2 coach with Athletics Ireland and specialises in Race Walking and has competed for Ireland in the event. John caters for all abilities. John will also lead a walking group on Wednesday mornings in the Watershed at 9.45am. This walking group is ideal for parents, retired people or anyone who wants to walk as part of a group. Buggys are welcome and there is a minimal charge of €2 per session. The next set of older adults aqua aerobics and swimming classes resume on the week starting March 7. Swimming classes cater for beginners and improvers. Classes are available in the Newpark and the Ormonde and cost just €20 per six sessions.
