Eight Mooncoin men are marching from south Kilkenny to Leinster House to protest at the scarcity of job opportunities for young people in Ireland.
The men, aged between 30 and 65, set off on the lengthy trek on Tuesday January 18. Yesterday the group left Kilmainham Gaol to complete the remainder of the journey.
The Mooncoin eight, from Kilmacow, Co Kilkenny, took a guided tour of Dublin, with a tour guide, before ending their walk at Leinster House at 2pm.
A spokesperson for the group said that each of the men had different issues to resolve, with emigration and politics being two of the protesters’ biggest problems.
The men have walked approximately 15 miles a day although they took a rest at the weekend and returned to their end spot on Monday morning.
They carried placards with slogans saying “stop the talking and start the walking” and “our children are not for export”.
