Kilkenny County Council’s Arts Office and the Butler Gallery is to launch the seventh in the series of Moot discussions, debates and seminars.
Moot is a continuous creative process providing a forum for discussion on a variety of subject matters and have included in previous years issues related to ‘architectural design : art gallery’, ‘reel to digital : focus on film’ and ‘The Current Climate: Art, Ecology and Sustainability’. These events will, potentially, transform expectations, citing shifts in attitudes, perceptions and beliefs.
Moot VII ‘Inno-Vision’ is the first event dealing with how arts, creativity and education link to innovation and the business sector. This discussion, like previous events, will be an open format event where artists, curators, academics etc. and the general public are invited to question how arts and creativity can contribute to addressing Ireland’s cultural and economic future.
Moot VII will dispel creativity ‘myths’, focusing on how we can harness creative thinking and innovation in the arts and creative sectors in today’s society, channelling it into the right areas to create a country that is not dependent on foreign investment for its livelihood. It will explore connections and overlap between the worlds of the arts, education and business to think about how to make the most of creative talent and change peoples’ ways of thinking about their creativity.
This panel will include, chairperson Finbarr Bradley IRL (former professor, DCU, NUI Maynooth & UCD, co-author, ‘Capitalising on Culture, Competing on Difference’ ); Dr Anna Craft UK (Prof of Education, University of Exeter and author of ‘Creativity and Education Futures?’ ); Neil Leyden IRL(director of Calico Media, chair of Digital Media Forum, and winner of ‘Your Country, Your Call’ ) http://www.calico.ie; Paul Young IRL(CEO and Co-Founder of Cartoon Saloon ).
