The Ronan Collins Showband Show “Reelin In The Showband Years” which was a complete sell out last year, returns to The Springhill Court Hotel, Kilkenny on Saturday January 22.
RTE’s Ronan Collins is host and compere. Ronan will also sing his tribute’s to Joe Dolan and Dickie Rock, which were so popular last year!
Crystal Swing, the terrific family group from Cork are a sensation around the world! They hit number one with “The Hucklebuck” and “He Drinks Tequila” and they are rarely off our TV screens and never out of the press! They are great fun, but also great entertainers!
Enjoy The big sound of The Conquerors Showband. One of the greatest showbands of them all and still packing them in everywhere they go. The Galway boys sang “Baby Blue” and many more.
Des Lee, of The Miami Showband took over as lead singer after the tragic death of Fran O’Toole. Undoubtedly the biggest drawing band in Ireland throughout the 70’s. Des wrote “Clap Your Hand Stamp Your Feet” one of their many hit records.
Eurovision stars Tommy and Jimmy Swarbrigg have performed for Ireland in 1975 and 1977. They have 20 hit records throughout their career, including “Looking Through The Eyes Of A Beautiful Girl” If Ma Could See Me Now” It’s Nice To Be In Love Again” “That’s What Friends Are For” etc.
They were also the very first showband singers to write and record all of their own material.
Lorraine McDonald is one of the brightest talents to emerge from the latter days of the Showband Boom and she is an ex-member of The Showband Show.
D J Curtin, The Kerry Blues are now Las Vegas based and are working as hard as ever. He still has a great big voice which can cover everything from Tom Jones to Englebert Humperdinck.
The show’s exciting finale is an all-cast salute to the exciting showband era. All of the cast join up in a medley of songs from the unique showband years!
