John Lockes (Kilkenny ) 2-14
Drumcullen (Offaly ) 0-4
After a long wait the weather finally improved for the boys of Callan to play out their highly anticipated 2010 Leinster Junior hurling final. The Kilkenny side ran out with an impressive 16-point victory over Drumcullen at Rath on Sunday last to bring the title back to Kilkenny for the eighth time in nine years.
The first half was a bit of a slow starter and there was only one score from play registered but it was a decisive one as Simon Burke's ninth-minute goal helped the Callan side to a 1-5 to 0-3 interval lead. Owen McGrath scored all of his points from frees, with Conor Gath pointing four Drumcullen frees —their only scores in the game.
Drumcullen badly needed a revival in the second half but it didn't come and when Shane Bergin scored John Lockes' second goal 12 minutes after the break to put his side 11 points up, there was no way back for Drumcullen. John Lockes added to their tally in the closing minutes to run out deserved winners.
