Fancy your name in the history books? Well read on… KBowl in MacDonagh Junction is starting its new spring league on January 25 and would like to have representatives from different parishes and towns across Kilkenny. The winning team will be pride of the parish as they will be awarded the title Ten Pin Bowling County Champions.
Another plus is that inhabitants of one parish can represent another. There can be more than one team from each parish and teams must nominate their parish at the beginning. The league has a prize fund of €1,000. It will take place every Tuesday night at 8pm. Each team can have up to five members with three players to bowl two games every Tuesday. Each team plays each other once. All league players receive a 20 per cent discount on practice sessions. KBowl will also hold a free introduction night on January 18 for anyone interested in taking part in the spring “parish” league. Participants do not have to be experienced bowlers as a handicap system will be operated whereby each bowler gets a handicap based on their scores. This means that matches are more competitive and no result can be taken for granted. Women and men can play and teams can take any configuration.
