For those interested in an unorthodox way to get into the festive spirit, while also keeping in shape for Christmas — an event coming up this weekend could be the perfect opportunity to do both.
Kilkenny native Roisin Hickey has organised a five kilometre ‘Santa Fun Run’ for this Saturday.
Anyone who would like to take part must don a traditional Santa suit, which they will get when they register.
The event costs €10 to enter and registration will take place in the Left Bank at 2pm, with the event set to take place at 3pm. All funds raised will be donated to The Jack and Jill Foundation.
All Santas will then walk down Rose Inn Street to the starting place in front of Key Largo restaurant on the Canal Bank Walk.
Participants can either walk, run or jog the route and for those who are a little more adventurous there will be a bikini or Speedo challenge for anyone brave enough to endure the cold weather that has been predicted for the weekend ahead.
All who take part are welcome to attend an informal gathering for drinks after the event in the Left Bank.
