U10 League
Freebooters under 10 A team played a very competitive game against a strong Dean Celtic team in a game that started in torrential rain. Freebooters started strong but it was Dean Celtic that took the lead with a fast break from their own box.
Booters levelled quickly with Evan West scoring the equaliser, then centre back Jack McDonald scored from a corner to put the home team a goal ahead before half time. Eoghan Guilfoyle scored immediately with his first touch of the game before Dean Celtic scored to bring it to 3-2 with 15 minutes to go. Booters finished strong and Oisin Griffin scored a fourth to give the home team some breathing space. A great game again between two strong and well organised teams.
U12 League Division 1
Freebooters 1-2 Evergreen
Booters u12s were beaten 2-1 by Evergreen in Scanlon Park on Friday night but can count themselves very unlucky not to have got at least a draw from this game. The Blues dominated for long periods of the game and but for some good defending and goalkeeping, could have won this game.
Evergreen took the lead through Harry Duggan who scored from a corner kick leaving Evergreen 1-0 up at half time. Within minutes of the restart Evergreen broke on the counter attack and Peter Hennebery put the ball past Blues keeper Steven Scallon. Booters did not panic and almost immediately pulled one back when Craig Hayes hit a screamer of a shot just past the post. Minutes later man of the match Dean George scored a cracking goal to put Booters back in the game. It was all Booters from then on and with minutes to go it looked like Sean Bolger was going to level the game when he broke past the Evergreen defence but his shot went wide of the post. Credit must be given to both sides for the manner in which they played.
U14 National Cup
Clane Utd 0-1 Freebooters
Our u14s had a great win in Clane to progress to the last 64 in the National Cup. David Doyle scored the winning goal in a 1-0 hard fought contest.
Booters were unlucky not to go a goal ahead after 10 minutes when a thundering strike by Michael Phelan hit the crossbar. The Blues had most of the play and Michael Phelan eventually broke through the Clane defence, his shot was saved but Doyle was on hand to score from the rebound. Freebooters are away to Cabinteely in the next round. Best for Booters: Michael Phelan, Dean Cornally, Adam Butler and David Doyle.
U14 girls
Freebooters 4-1 East End
Freebooters girls put their recent defeat behind them with a 4-1 win over East End in Scanlon Park.
U16 Division 1
Ormonde Villa 2-6 Freebooters
The Freebooters u16s finally got their season under way with a 6-2 victory over Ormonde Villa. Booters were 4-0 up at half time, with the second half more evenly balanced with both teams adding two goals apiece to the scoreline. Booters goalscorers were Jason Hennessy (3 ) Jack Bruton, Paul Dennieffe, and Paul Lynch.
The club enjoyed a very successful trip to the FAI Cup final in the Aviva Stadium. The group of 105 Freebooters players and officials enjoyed a magnificent atmosphere in the fantastic stadium which saw Sligo Rovers beat Shamrock Rovers in a penalty shoot out.
