Kilkenny Library Service has arranged for the Space Encounters Mobile Planetarium to visit Presentation Convent Secondary School in Loughboy on November 10, as part of Science Week between November 7 – 14.
The Planetarium accommodates 35 students in one show, is seven metres in diameter and three metres high. The interactive 360 degree science and astronomy show is suitable for pre-junior certificate students.
The show is an introduction to a realistic and detailed night sky using almost 3000 star points. It illustrates the universe, our place in it and some of the latest discoveries from the solar system and beyond.
Due to its size, the library service could not accept this innovative show but is happy to promote it by arranging accommodation for it in a Kilkenny school. www.scienceweek.ie will give further events taking place nationally during Science Week.
