Helen Finnegan of Knockdrinna Farmhouse Cheese in Stoneyford and Mag Kirwan of Goatsbridge Trout Farm, in Kilkenny together with other members of Good Food Ireland, were on hand to showcase the very best of food from around the island of Ireland, at the recent Flavours of Ireland 2010 event in London, organised by Tourism Ireland.
The B2B tourism workshop brought 120 influential GB-based incoming tour operators together with 37 representatives of the tourism industry from around the island of Ireland.
The Flavours of Ireland event was organised with the aim of growing the island of Ireland’s share of the huge worldwide tourism market. It was an opportunity for the tour operators to sample the superb food now available for visitors to Ireland, as members of Good Food Ireland served up a wonderful culinary showcase of fresh, locally produced food from around the island of Ireland.
Jim Paul, Tourism Ireland’s head of new and developing markets, said: “We are delighted that so many tourism providers from around the island of Ireland and so many of the leading GB-based incoming operators took the time to join us at this event and we very much welcome the business and networking opportunities.
“The wonderful food showcase provided by Good Food Ireland also helps us to spread the word about Ireland as a premier holiday destination with an outstanding food offering. In this difficult year for tourism, we are working hard to win business and to keep the island of Ireland ‘top of mind’ with potential overseas visitors.”
