Tom Duffy’s Circus is back in Kilkenny with a brand new show until Sunday October 17. The state of the art big top is located at the Old Mart in Barrack Street.
This year’s new programme celebrates two great forms of entertainment — the traditional circus and the cinema — in the 2010 production ‘Hooray for Hollywood’ – a circus celebration of the golden years of cinema. Tom Duffy’s Circus salutes the legends of the silver screen.
Whether you prefer Errol Flynn or Russell Crowe it does not matter as the company in Lincoln Green will entertain you with horse riding, aerial silks, pyramid building, acrobatics, and its very own ‘Little John’ – Gonchig Khishigdavaa, the mighty strong man, will astound you with feats of strength including lifting a combined total of 500 kilos with his feet.
Cruella’s performing dogs are cute, enthusiastic, and very talented and lead to the big cage going up in the ring.
From Gladiator in the mighty steel arena with magnificent Royal Bengal and Siberian tigers to Robin Hood and the outlaws of Sherwood Forest - an affectionate nod to one of the world’s favourite legends.
Adult members of the audience will never be safe as clown Davide is on the prowl looking for passengers for his imaginary car. The programme also includes aerial hoop, rolling globes, breath-taking trapeze, juggling, and the A to Z of animals, alpacas, dogs, horses, llamas, ponies, snakes, tigers, and Zulu the beautiful zebra.
Following the much-needed interval the second half of the show opens with Tom Duffy’s Liberty stallions — six young energetic stallions and the cutest little Shetland ponies perform to beautiful music played by Tom Duffy’s Circus band.
‘African Dawn’ — an awesome acrobatic fun-filled tribute to your favourite jungle movies including The Lion King, features fabulous costume characters, illusions, snakes, cloud swing, and the sensational double somersaulting Tsagaan Troupe on the Russian bar.
