Last Sunday, September 26 saw the inaugural Kilkenny Vintage Car Fun Run in aid of The Good Shepherd Centre and Amber: Kilkenny’s Women’s Refuge.
Grainne Morris, member of Kilkenny Business Women’s Network along with her husband Mike, organised the fun run to raise money for the two very worthwhile charities as part of a larger event ‘Serve It Up’ which is being held on November 13 in Hotel Kilkenny.
The fun run started at The Springhill Court Hotel at 12.30pm with tea and biscuits sponsored by The Springhill. The participants started out via Bennettsbridge with a quick stop in Mosses and then onto Malzards of Stoneyford where Mike Morris took out his guitar to serenade the troops with a couple of country numbers.
The fun run arrived back in Kilkenny at 4.30pm where vintage cars were replaced with the modern less romantic versions for the journey home.
It is envisaged that next year the event will be on the official Vintage and Classic Car calendar and it is hoped it will attract greater numbers of these beautiful cars.
An event not to be missed in 2011!
