Vintage cars flock to Ballyragget this Sunday

The Ballyragget Vintage Club are all very busy at present organising their annual Vintage Road Run and Harvest Day on Sunday September 26.

The event is in its seventh year and has collected over €98,000 for local charities since its inception.

The chosen charities to benefit this year are: Kilkenny Alzheimer’s Society, Carlow/Kilkenny Home Care Team, O’ Gorman Home, Ballyragget Day Care Centre, Ballyragget/Ballyouskill Lourdes Invalid Fund.

On Saturday September 25, a cabaret and auction will be held in the Hogan Stand Ballyragget. A great night’s entertainment is promised with some wonderful items for auction and a raffle will also be held. Music will also be provided on the night.

The road run will commence early Sunday morning with all tractors and cars assembling in Ballyragget and all will depart at 11am in convoy on a scenic 20 mile road run.

All tractors return to Thorpe’s of Finnan for harvest day. This includes threshing, ploughing and various activities including slow tractor race, barrel race, the crowning of the Harvest Queen and many more competitions on offer.

These charities were chosen because of the considerable amount of work they do for the community and further support is greatly appreciated. Any tractors are welcome on the day, make or model does not matter. More lady drivers are also encouraged to participate in the event. Refreshments will be provided on the day. The Vintage Road Run and Harvest day takes place on Sunday September 26.
