Cody is certain Shefflin will don the county colours again

Kilkenny hurling manager Brian Cody has no doubt that Henry Shefflin will play for the county again.

The seven-time All-Ireland winner will undergo surgery on his knee after a recurrence injury forced him out of last Sunday's All-Ireland final defeat to Tipperary after just 12 minutes.

“He's obviously facing a tough couple of months which was expected,” said Cody. “But there's not a more driven or a more competitive sports person alive.

“Nobody has more passion for it and nobody has more drive, commitment, and enthusiasm to be the best. He is the best and for a long period of time he's been right up there and kept himself up there and looked after himself extremely well.

“I know deep down in his heart he'll want to play in Croke Park again with Kilkenny. I would say that for certain no doubt. I would say that would be everybody else's desire that he will as well.”
