Set celebrates first birthday with celebratory bash

The south-east venue that’s been the talk of many musicians and music lovers over the last year, Set Theatre will celebrate its first birthday on Thursday September 16.

It has been an amazing year for the Kilkenny venue, with top musicians such as Christy Moore, Mary Black, Bell X 1, Lisa Hannigan, RSAG, Cathy Davey and Villagers gracing the stage with special events such as Beauty and the Beast, Jesus Christ Superstar, Absolute Style Weekend and Apres Match to name but a few! Matt Cooper is also becoming a regular visitor by broadcasting live from the venue.

It did not take long for the state of the art venue to rapidly gain popularity after it opened it’s doors for the first time in 2009, just in time for the town’s ever famous Kilkenny Arts Festival.

Within a short period of time the venue won the IMRO 'Live Music Venue of the Year' award.

So to celebrate the Set’s birthday in style some of the talented acts that came through the doors over the last 12 months will return to the stage for the birthday party.

You can expect to see and hear live performances from Mick Flannery, Jerry Fish, James Vincent McMorrow, Julie Feeney, Our Little Secrets plus very special guests followed by Soul Kitchen with Davy Holland and Brian Butler.

This is a ticket only event and to get yourself in the draw for a pair of tickets you can log onto the venue’s facebook page and click the "I'm Attending" option. A draw will take place closer to the event and the lucky winners will be informed.

Please do not apply for tickets if you cannot attend this event on Thursday, September 16 at 8pm as numbers are limited. A certain amount of tickets will be available from Langtons, John Street, Kilkenny for non facebook fans!
