Having grown a bit tired of my regular weekend haunts I found myself stepping into unknown territory over the weekend with a stop off at Dempsey’s Bar on John Street. From the moment I entered the popular establishment I felt right at home.
The pub boasts a real old charm but within a modern setting. The walls are adorned with stunning art and photographic pieces which are great to look at while enjoying a drink or some delicious food. The front bar is laid out perfectly, making it an ideal setting for a group of friends but not at all intimidating for a person on his or her own looking to enjoy a pint. With TV screens hung high there’s always a sporting event on for all to enjoy.
Smokers have the comfort of the terraced beer garden with their own TV screen and every Sunday there’s the delicious smell of a pig roasting on a spit for all to savour. My friends were delighted with the complimentary crackling pig skin they received when we were there. With plenty of choice under one roof this is the pub to be in any day of the week. The management team of Matthew Balster, Aisling Minogue and James McPartland will be sure you receive the very best service. What I found interesting was how the owners have created three pubs under one roof — the front bar is cosy but polished, the back lounge is ideal for all kinds of parties and the lively terraced beer garden holds plenty of seating. Entertainment is top of the agenda for Dempsey’s Bar — on Thursdays they host their very popular ‘Deal or no Deal’ night while there’s also a mixed variety of live entertainment over the weekend including the ‘The Briars’ every Sunday night. Dempsey’s Bar are about to introduce the very first beer temperature regulator to their line — this ensures that your beer tastes perfect all the time.
