Further protests are being planned by subcontractors who have not been paid for work that they carried out on the Watershed in Kilkenny.
An organised protest took place last Friday at the Watershed and at offices of Kilkenny County Council by workers who carried out work on the building of the premises.
The workers are protesting at the fact that they have not been paid a €200k debt owed to them collectively since 2008. The work was completed in December 2008.
Deputy John McGuinness has indicated that he is willing to meet with representatives of the subcontractors in coming weeks to attempt to find a resolution to the issues.
Members of the borough council recently called on the council to address the issue and pay the subcontractors what they are owed.
The workers say that they have been forced to picket in an attempt to secure payment.
Some 30 staff of subcontractors took part in last week’s protest outside The Watershed and the offices of Kilkenny County Council from 8am and a spokesperson for the workers say that there are future protests planned.
