TDs from the Carlow/Kilkenny constituency recently visited Merck Sharpe and Dohme Carlow to tour the new facility and get an updated briefing from company management on MSD’s preparations for commencing operations in the first half of next year.
Minister of State, Mary White, Bobby Aylward TD and John McGuinness TD joined MSD Carlow general manager, Bryan Meehan and members of the MSD team for a full tour of the new facility. The politicians were introduced to MSD staff and shown at first hand the company’s new state-of-the-art technology and production systems.
The visit is part of the ongoing outreach programme undertaken by MSD with neighbours and representatives from the community.
Commenting, Bryan Meehan, general manager, MSD said, “We were delighted to welcome and host Deputies Aylward, McGuinness and White in MSD Carlow recently. Visits like this afford us the opportunity to keep people informed as to our progress and developments in Carlow. We were delighted that the deputies took the time to visit and see at first hand what we are doing here in Carlow. The support they and others have shown us is important and greatly appreciated.
“The deputies got to meet directly with our team, many of whom are from the locality. We have made great progress in recent months with construction now concluding. We have a busy period ahead completing preparations but we are on track and looking forward to formally commencing operations on schedule in the first half of 2011.”
