MacDonagh Junction at the heart of the arts festival

MacDonagh Junction will host a selection of fringe exhibitions during the Kilkenny Arts Festival from 6 – 15th August.

Workhouse Square will be the focal point for the Workhouse Crafts group. All items are handcrafted in Ireland so they are all authentic Irish products. There will be 16 exhibitors during the week and over 20 at weekends. Crafts include wood turners, pottery, basket making, and jewellery.

The Kilkenny Photographic Society will display their members’ work in the main shopping mall. There will be a wide selection of photographs from Kilkenny landscapes to everyday images and some portraits.

On a monthly basis, a selection of local artists exhibit their work in MacDonagh Junction and during the arts festival they will be located in both Workhouse Square and on the mall near HB. The artists are Sylvia Parkinson, Edel Tierney, Mary Dunne, Susan Keohane, John Walsh, and Maura Fahy. A number of artists from the Kilkenny Integration Forum will exhibit for the duration of the arts festival on the mall near Health Express.

Children’s activity is high on the agenda, with bungee trampolining and mini go karts to keep them entertained. On certain days Workhouse Crafts Fair will feature a stand that allows children to decorate their own plates and cups, so this should result in fine and unique works of art
