Pedigree adoption drive raises €4k for dog shelter

The third annual Pedigree Adoption Drive has raised €4,000 for A Dogs Life in Co Kilkenny. Pedigree announced the success of the 2010 campaign in raising much needed funds for the care of homeless dogs in Ireland.

The campaign, which ran from April 1 to the end of June, saw Pedigree donate money for every pack of Pedigree dog food sold. Raising funds went hand in hand with raising awareness during this year’s campaign, which ultimately sought to help the plight of homeless dogs in Ireland. The Pedigree Adoption Drive has been extremely successful since the campaign was launched in 2008 with 20 fewer dogs put down every day over the first two years. Due to this year’s success, the Pedigree Adoption Drive has now raised €300,000 for dog rescue charities across Ireland since its launch.

This year, Pedigree received 45 applications for funding and is delighted to be able to offer assistance, in varying amounts, to all who applied. Pedigree believes that all dogs deserve a loving home and The Pedigree Adoption Drive aims to highlight the wonderful work re-homing centres do, as well as raise awareness of the thousands of abandoned dogs looking for a loving home. The Pedigree Adoption Drive appreciates the challenging times in which dog re-homing organisations currently work and, therefore, provided funding for all re-homing centres who applied for a 2010 grant.
