Gardai have been busy targeting the drugs trade in the region and several seizures have been made in the last week.
Gardai raided a house in the Newpark area of Kilkenny city on Wednesday July 21, and seized a quantity of what is believed to be heroin.
One man was arrested and taken to Kilkenny Garda Station for questioning. He was subsequently released and a file is being sent to the DPP.
On Wednesday last at approximately 7am, Gardai investigating the sale and supply of drugs in the Carlow area carried out a search of a house in the town.
During the course of the search a cannabis-growing operation was uncovered. Cannabis plants at various stages of growth were seized with an estimated street value of €35,000, (subject to analysis ). Cocaine with an estimated value of €70,000 (subject to analysis ) was also recovered.
A male aged in his 20s and a female aged in her late teens were arrested and detained under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act at Carlow Garda Station.
Meanwhile in Kilkenny Gardai swooped on a woodland rave that was taking place in Castlewarren on Saturday night last where a number of people were searched and were found to have drugs in their possession — some deemed possibly for sale or supply.
One man was arrested and questioned and a file is being prepared for the DPP. A second man was arrested in connection with criminal damage charges after the crowd became volatile and a Garda car was damaged during the incident.
