Bell X1 announce acoustic Kilkenny performance

Fan favourites Bell X1 will return to Kilkenny this autumn as part of a national acoustic tour to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the release of the band’s debut album.

Forming in 1999 after the dissolution of the Damien Rice-fronted Juniper, Bell X1 released ‘Neither Am I’ in 2000, the first of four studio albums.

The momentum of their debut release was continued throughout the 2000’s with the release of a further three albums, ‘Music In Mouth’ (2003 ), ‘Flock’ (2005 ) and ‘Blue Lights On the Runway’ (2009 ), making them one of the most commercially successful bands in Ireland.

After a storming sold-out performance in Kilkenny’s Set Theatre last December, the band are pairing down their sound for what promises to be a memorable acoustic tour in celebration of a decade which has seen them rise to the top of the Irish music chain.

They are perennial favourites on the festival circuit with a live performance that has won praise both home and abroad and the new tour will mark the return from a hiatus which has covered most of this year, which has been spent writing songs for their fifth album, due out in spring 2011.

The band will strip things back and perform songs from their entire back catalogue as well as debut some new ones, and the tour will be preceded by a similar tour of the US in October.

Bell X1 will perform an acoustic show in Set Theatre, Kilkenny on November 12. Tickets for most shows are now on sale from Ticketmaster and usual outlets.
