Over 520 participants and their supporters are expected to descend on Kilkenny this weekend for the first ever Kilkenny Triathlon.
The Taxback.com-sponsored event has a full-to-capacity register for the weekend event which kicks off early on Saturday morning.
Participants will swim at least 750 metres along the River Nore, cycle a loop of at least 20km as far as Bennettsbridge and run at least five kilometres in laps of the Castle Park.
The event will start with the swim at John’s Bridge and the participants will enter the water in ‘waves’ or groups one after another.The finish line for the event is on the Parade plaza in the heart of the city. There are three categories including sprint, Olympic and relay.
All are encouraged to come out on Saturday morning to see the participants off and welcome their return to the Parade. Swimmers take off at 9am from Bateman Quay.
