Enjoy fine Italian cuisine at La Palmyra

Kilkenny denizens who enjoy fine dining and flavoursome Italian cuisine will revel in the recent opening of a new restaurant in the heart of the medieval city.

La Palmyra Italian restaurant and pizzeria has opened its doors at 8 John Street in Kilkenny, promising the kind of tasty cooking that will make you come back for more.

With head chef Robbie Zakaria, formerly of Italian Connection, overseeing things in the kitchen, La Palmyra offers a wide range of Mediterranean dishes to suit all palates, including superb pastas and pizzas, at a reasonable price.

At La Palmyra you can now enjoy a two course lunch special for just €10 between 12pm and 5pm, or a two course dinner special for just €15 between 5pm and 11pm.

The restaurant’s menu boasts a fine selection of traditonal Italian dishes, including popular pasta dishes such as fettuccine carbonara, penne arrabbiata, spaghetti Napolitano and risotto di mari, plus much more.

The pizzeria features a selection of favourites including Margherita, Hawaiian, funghi, quattro stagioni and pepperoni and all pizzas are freshly made on a 12 inch base.

Meat dishes include the chef’s specials of roast duck and roast lamb shank as well as fillet or stirloin steak, lamb cutlets, pollo di casa, pollo Milanese, saltimbocca or veal alla parmigiano. There are also fresh fish dishes such as lemon sole, salmon la Palmyra (a salmon steak served with prawns in a creamy white wine sauce ) or ‘catch of the day’.
