Kilkenny cyclist John Britton is undertaking a 1000km cycle this summer in aid of the Susie Long Hospice Fund.
Never one to shy away from a challenge, John will cycle from Kilkenny to the Medieval City’s twin city in France.
John departs from Kilkenny on Wednesday June 30 and aims to reach Moret on Thursday July 8.
The route for this great trip beginning in Kilkenny on June 30 takes John to Rosslare, Fishguard, Cardiff, Bristol, Portsmouth, Cherbourg, Caen, Alencon, Orleans and finally to Moret-sur-Loing. John will be based for two nights in Môret, from where he will cycle to Montargis to watch the 6th stage of the Tour de France leave, followed by a final spin up to Paris.
John is very keen to make the most of this trip by cycling in aid of the Susie Long Hospice Fund.
“I've decided that the Susie Long Hospice Fund would be the ideal charity for me to dedicate this to. It's a Kilkenny-based fund, serving the local area, and I don’t think any of us need to look very hard to find someone who has lost friends and/or family prematurely. Susie Long’s story is one that has touched me and it's with pleasure that I'm supporting the Fund.”
Wishing John well on his trip, Sonya Lanigan, chairperson of the Susie Long Hospice Fund said, “we have great admiration for John, undertaking such a huge challenge, and are very grateful that he has chosen the Susie Long Hospice Fund as the beneficiary of his efforts. We wish John all the best and look forward to welcoming him safely back to Kilkenny afterwards!”
