Enda Kenny is due to announce his new front bench next week and Paddy Power are betting that it’s a two horse race to be deputy leader.
Kilkenny TD Phil Hogan is the bookie’s odds-on 1/2 favourite to land the position ahead of Dr James Reilly at 6/4. Alan Shatter comes next in the list at 10/1 with Deirdre Clune at 14/1 and Richard Bruton a very unlikely 50/1 for a return.
Most speculation has centred around Hogan to date and his refusal to comment has only fuelled punters’ belief that he is soon to be appointed.
Paddy Power said, “This is the next thing on punters lips – will it be Hogan or Reilly. The odds suggest that Hogan is the man but if last week taught us anything it’s that there is some truth in that saying that a day is a long time in politics!”
The odds are as follows:
Next Deputy FG Leader
1/2 Phil Hogan
6/4 James Reilly
10/1 Alan Shatter
14/1 Deirdre Clune
50/1 Richard Bruton
When Will Enda Go?
