Top travel writers from Austria visited Kilkenny last week as part of a fact-finding trip to the southeast. Carefully selected and invited here by Tourism Ireland in Vienna, the journalists’ itinerary was designed by Fáilte Ireland.
During their visit, the group had a chance to discover and experience at first-hand some of the best of what this part of Ireland has to offer potential Austrian holidaymakers – including a guided tour of Kilkenny with Tynan’s Walking Tours and a visit to the Lyrath Estate Hotel. The group also visited key attractions in Wicklow and Wexford.
“Media visits such as these are extremely important to help build awareness of Kilkenny, the southeast, and the island of Ireland in general among potential holidaymakers in Austria,” said Simone Korb of Tourism Ireland Austria. “The publicity value of the articles these journalists will write is fantastic – they will be read by many thousands of potential holidaymakers.”
Tourism Ireland’s promotional programme in Austria is highlighting the island of Ireland as a fantastic holiday destination. Tourism Ireland is placing significant emphasis on value for money, to drive home to Austrian consumers the message about the superb range of offers available around the island of Ireland. The message in Austria is that there has never been a better time to visit Kilkenny and Ireland.
