The opening of the Old Golf Links Road and New Orchard Road Improvement Scheme on the Eastern environs of Kilkenny city will take place this afternoon.
The works were carried out as part of the Old Golf Links Road and New Orchard Road Improvement Scheme.
The project which incorporated three roads in the area has made life much easier for the thousands of families living in the New Orchard, Old Golf Links Road, and Lovers Lane areas.
The three routes are not of top quality and incorporate a number of traffic calming measures such as ramps and zebra crossings. There is also a mini roundabout connecting Lovers Lane with Old Golf Links Road and with New Orchard Road.
This is the final amenity to be put in place in this area which is home to thousands of new families in recent years.
Newpark Stores opened up some years ago offering residents all the convenience of local shops and just last year Orchard House bar and restaurant opened its doors to the public offering the people of the area a local bar.
The chairman of Kilkenny County Council will undertake today’s opening at 12 noon. Local public representatives will be present along with the contractors who carried out the works
