New train services for Kilkenny to Dublin and Waterford will be in operation from June 8 next and a new evening Carlow commuter service is also be extended to Kilkenny & Waterford.
Iarnród Éireann announced schedule revisions on the Dublin /Waterford route from Tuesday next which will see additional trains operate on the route daily (Monday to Saturday ).
The new services are a 13.20 Heuston to Waterford, serving Carlow and Kilkenny; a 16.50 Waterford to Heuston, serving Thomastown, Kilkenny, Muine Bheag, Carlow and Athy.
In addition, the existing 17.35 Heuston to Carlow service will be extended to Waterford, additionally serving Muine Bheag, Kilkenny, Thomastown and Waterford.
The new services increase services on the Dublin/Waterford route to eight trains each way daily. This follows improvements in December last, which included a new express service from Waterford to Dublin at 07.10hrs, reaching Dublin city in a two-hour journey time.
The full schedule from 8th June is: Dublin to Waterford 07.20, 09.10, 11.10, 13.20, 15.10, 16.35, 17.35, 18.35.
Waterford to Dublin 06.10, 07.10, 07.40, 11.00, 13.00, 15.00, 16.50, 18.20.
A spokesperson for Iarnród Éireann said, “these latest improvements on the Waterford route give the strongest choice of services we’ve offered, on new, comfortable trains, with highly competitive journey times. We have seen strong demand for our most recent service improvements in December, and web fares from €10 each way (€5 each way for kids ) are also attracting customers to our services.
We are confident these latest improvements will be very popular with those travelling between Waterford and Dublin, as well as to and from intermediate towns.”
