Gardaí in the south-east have released the 11 suspects questioned over the last week in relation to a ‘tiger’ kidnapping in Kilkenny city last November involving former hurler Adrian Ronan.
The final four men who were held for further questioning over the weekend, were released from garda custody on Monday and a file is now being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Eleven people, including six men and five women, were arrested last week as part of the investigation into the attempted robbery of the Bank of Ireland on Parliament Street last year.
Mr Ronan, a former inter-county star, and his family were targetted in the incident when three masked men broke into their home in Ballycallan and kidnapped his wife.
He was ordered to retrieve €3 million in cash from the bank, where he worked as an area sales manager, however he was unable to obtain the money and the gang absconded, releasing Mrs Ronan near the old weather station on the Granges Road.
Ten suspects were arrested in Dublin on Monday last week and detained in various garda stations across the south-east. Another suspect was arrested and detained at Kilkenny garda station on Tuesday. All have now been released from custody.
