All sectors succeed at Interfirms
Twenty finalists battled it out in various grades in both the main tournament and in the plate for their various employers in last Saturday’s Supervalu Interfirms tennis finals.
In the Premier section the Radical Clothing team comprising of the Nolan sisters, Tommy Rochford and Ivan Cahill had a comfortable win over Larkspur from Cashel. In Grade A section fine play by Cora McCarty and Michael Lannon helped the Supervalu team overcome St Lukes Hospital A team. The other St Lukes team in Grade B put on a brave show but their opponents were just too experienced with players like Hilda Anthony, Helen Connelly, Paul O’Dwyer and Pat Brennan. In the beginners group the Kilkenny Reporter team played some fine tennis to beat the Tip the Kats team by an eleven pint margin.
In the premier plate Team Zinc beat Dempseys while in section A Tommy Barry Joinery were edged out by Boys and Girls. The two closest matches of the day were also in the plate when only a point separated the Hibernian Hotel and Gabriels Angels with the Hibernian getting through. State Street team C lost by just 3 points to Nothing Ventured while the same margin separated KBC and Kerry Connection in the beginners section plate.
