184 sports clubs from all over Leinster have registered for Kellogg’s Field of Dreams in the hope of winning a €100,000 pitch makeover. Clubs running the length and breadth of Leinster have entered the competition ensuring that every county in the province is represented.
The response is such that almost all sporting creeds are represented including; Gaelic games, rugby, soccer, cricket and hockey.
To date 400 clubs in total have registered to compete, with 184 in Leinster, 55 in Ulster, 50 in Connaught and 111 in Munster. County Kilkenny has seven clubs in total entered into the competition: St Brigids Camogie Club, Dicksboro GAA club, O'Loughlin Gaels GAA Club, Thomastown United AFC, Tullaroan GAA Club,

County Dublin leads the league table as the county with the highest level of clubs entered into the campaign, with 64 clubs registered, followed by Cork with 27 clubs registered. Jim McNeill, Managing Director, Kellogg’s Ireland said: “We are amazed with the phenomenal response from clubs and communities. Sports clubs running from Donegal to Mayo and Cork are pulling together to ensure that their community gets involved to help them to qualify for their Field of Dreams. It is a testament to the level of interest in sport that there is out there among the Irish public.”
Kellogg’s Field of Dreams was launched on April 7 in Croke Park by a host of sports stars and personalities, including RTÉ’s Des Cahill and Field of Dreams ambassadors Rob Kearney, alongside RTÉ’s Tracy Piggott, Marty Morrissey and Jacqui Hurley. Endorsed by the Federation of Irish Sports and in partnership with RTÉ, the Kellogg’s Field of Dreams Competition will give a local community sports club or organisation the chance to transform their local playing field by winning a make-over to the value of €100,000. Three runners-up will each win €10,000 to update their sports facilities.
The Kellogg’s Field of Dreams survey found that 92 per cent of people from Leinster believed that participation in sports should be higher and 74 per cent of sporting organisations surveyed have suffered a decline in funding in the past twelve months.
Irish rugby player Rob Kearney urges clubs to get involved; “I would love to see the “Field of Dreams” prize go to a Leinster club. This is a fantastic opportunity for families and communities to make a difference to their local sports facilities and I am urging all clubs in Leinster to enter now”.
There is still time for sports clubs to enter. Clubs can enter by completing the online registration on the Kellogg’s Field of Dreams website www.kelloggs.ie/fieldofdreams Once the application has been submitted, clubs collect the required amount of tokens from promotional packs of Kellogg’s Corn Flakes or Crunchy Nut and return to Kellogg’s, before July 31.
An expert panel of judges will select a club finalist from each province in Ireland to compete for the grand prize. A public vote will subsequently decide the ultimate winner. Each provincial club finalist will be assigned a Celebrity Champion who will rally support for the club to try to win the grand prize:
Celebrities are: Rob Kearney: Leinster, Marty Morrissey: Connaught, Tracy Piggott: Ulster and
Jacqui Hurley: Munster.
The winning clubs will be announced as part of a special broadcast during the RTÉ Late Late Show in November this year.
