The Local Agenda 21 funding initiative is seeking applications from communities, youth groups, individuals, schools, and not for profit groups to undertake environmental projects in their local area.
Projects should focus on environmental awareness and actions which complement national environmental policies such as waste, nature, and climate change. Possible projects include; community and school gardens, community composting initiatives, creating art through recycling workshops, developing a play or film to raise awareness on an environmental topic, or creating an environmental themed float for next year’s St Patrick’s Day parade.
The total funding allocation for the county is €14,000 so the local authority is seeking to fund a number of small to medium size projects. Further information can be obtained from the environmental awareness officer in Kilkenny County Council on 056-7794470.
Applications are available from the environment section in County Hall or on www.kilkennycoco.ie The closing date for applications is May 28.
