Relive your favourite musical moments

Fans of classic musicals such as Fiddler on the Roof, Chicago, and Les Misérables are in for a genuine treat this weekend with a special concert in St Canice’s Cathedral.

Some of the finest classically trained voices in the country will sing the most memorable songs from your favourite musicals in The Joy of Musicals this Saturday, May 15.

The Kilkenny Unity Singers will add their voices to the performance as favourites such as ‘Some Enchanted Evening’, ‘Ol’ Man River’, and ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ fill the venue.

Singers on the night include soprano Ruth Cahill, who has performed several leading roles in musical theatre as well as performances for Opera Ireland and RTÉ radio and television, and New York-born mezzo-soprano Danna Davis, a leading name in musical theatre on both sides of the Atlantic.

Tenor Peter O’Donohue of Ireland’s Young Tenors will be joined by baritone Eoin Cannon, a lead singer on Riverdance’s European tour, baritone Tony Finnegan, a graduate of the Guilford School of Acting and Dance and renowned director and singer, and award-winning bass-baritone Derek Ryan, a native of Tipperary.

The concert will be hosted by Angela Kelly-Molloy with Aidan Faughey as conductor and including the Music Theatre Orchestra. Tickets are priced at €35 and are available from Dubray Bookshop in the Market Cross Shopping Centre, The Wine Centre on John Street or on the door. There will be a 10 per cent discount for groups of 10 or more.
