Local catering company Creative Catering Ltd celebrated their 20 years in business on Saturday with a creative and fun afternoon at Castalia Hall, Ballytobin.
Proprietors Eamon Blake and Trish Finegan treated their 350 guests - past and present employees, clients, family and friends – to a feast of locally produced food and a light-hearted exhibition of photos and memorabilia from the first 20 years of Creative Catering. Lots of entertainment was on hand for the younger guests, prepared by Eamon and Trish’s two daughters, including face-painting, a treasure hunt and a colouring competition judged by Cllr Malcolm Noonan, Mayor of Kilkenny.
Cllr Michael O’Brien, chairman of Kilkenny County Council, was guest of honour, a fitting tribute as Michael officially launched Trish and Eamon’s Cafe Bistro, the beginnings of Creative Catering, in Thomastown in 1991. A presentation was made by Michael to Trish and Eamon to acknowledge their contribution to the commerce of Kilkenny county over the last 20 years. Live music provided by local talents Emma and Louise Blake, Alex Noonan and Eddy Blake’s band The Drunken Monkeys finished off a fabulous afternoon of celebration, food, crafts and fun.
Creative Catering have built their reputation on superb food, at reasonable prices with professional service, so what better way to celebrate than to invite some of Kilkenny’s top local food producers to create a market to showcase their products. Lining the atmospheric entrance to Castalia Hall, this top drawer presentation featured local food producers Lavistown Sausages, Goatsbridge Trout Farm, Knockdrinna Cheese, Cramers Grove Ice Cream, A Slice of Heaven, Vendemia Organic Wines and Highbank Farm, along with local craft producers The Bridge Pottery and Moth to a Flame. On arrival into the main hall, guests were then treated to delicious titbits prepared by Creative Catering co-owner Eamon Blake and his team of chefs.
Speaking at the launch, co-owner Trish Finegan said “Eamon and I firmly believe in promoting the excellent local food and craft businesses that make Kilkenny such a unique place and we are blessed to have such a beautiful location here at Castalia Hall to celebrate our 20 years in business. It’s fantastic to celebrate our survival, but today is also a nice opportunity to remind everyone of what we do and what excellent food producers we work with in Kilkenny. Today is a celebration of our first 20 years in business – Hopefully, here’s to the next 20!”
