Kilkenny prides itself on being a medieval hotspot filled with historical wonders and ancient beauty. It also prides itself on hosting the original and the best comedy festival in Ireland. What better way to showcase both, than by taking visitors to this year’s Carlsberg Cat Laughs on a treasure hunt through the city in search of the perfect Saturday afternoon – a comedy show spectacular.
Put your sleuthing skills to the test and manoeuvre your way around Kilkenny to find the secret location for the debut Carlsberg Cat Laughs performance of the Comedy Mish Mash with Andrew Stanley and Fred Cooke.
As a favourite Tuesday night fixture at Dublin’s International Bar, the Comedy Mish Mash brings an hour’s worth of songs, improv, sketches, games and of course stand up.
With the help of Andrew, Fred and carefully plotted clues, the Pursuit of Happiness treasure hunt will lead you to a plethora of mish mashed happiness, laughs and free biscuits to boot! The meeting point for the Pursuit of Happiness is the King’s Ballroom Foyer at the Ormonde Hotel on Saturday, 5 June at 3pm. At just €10 a ticket, get in quick before they sell out. www.carlsbergcatlaughs.com As the first event of its kind in Ireland, the Pursuit of Happiness is an exciting addition to the festival programme according to recently appointed Artistic Director, Rebecca Austin.
“We are keeping everything crossed for lovely weather over the Festival weekend. We are hoping to get the competitive natures of our comedy fans going with this event as well as bring a little piece of the Festival to the streets of Kilkenny too. Loads of comedians have said they will be involved and Andrew and Fred are planning a great show at the end of the Pursuit to celebrate.”
The 16th annual Carlsberg Cat Laughs falls again this year on the June Bank Holiday weekend, 3 – 7 June. With 47 artists, 70 shows across 16 venues, this year’s Festival has something for everyone.
