Carlow man nabs Leinster carer’s title

Carlow man James Corcoran will accept the honour of Leinster carer of the year this Thursday night at a special award ceremony convened by the Carers’ Association.

The Carlow man, who has been tirelessly caring for his wife for over 14 years while raising a family of eight, will collect his award from Cllr Anne Ahearn from Carlow Town Council and Pat Grogan, centre manager of The Carers’ Association Carlow/ Kilkenny and other representatives of The Carers’ Association.

The special ceremony takes place in the Talbot Hotel, Portlaoise Road, Carlow tonight (Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 7.45pm. )

The Carers’ Association is the national voluntary organisation of family carers in the home, providing support services, respite, training and information to carers throughout Ireland.
