Thomas titillates with new title

TV presenter Kathryn Thomas, the Blackbog Road native, has had some awfully big adventures.

And lucky for Carlovians eager to catch up on how one of their own is doing, she has put pen to paper and come up with a thrilling new book chronicling her adventures in some of world’s most exotic locations.

Her Poolbeg published book ‘Off the Beaten Track’ was officially launched in Hughes and Hughes, St Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre, Dublin last Wednesday. Applauded by her mother Anne and sister Linda and grandmother Margaret Keane and boyfriend Enda Waters, Kathryn was thrilled to launch her first book.

‘Off the Beaten Track’ invites readers to explore far away places such as Antarctica, Mongolia, Papua New Guinea, Namibia, Ethiopia, Mali, Romania and the Himalayas with her. Written in the style of an Irish Michael Palin, Kathryn’s travelogue is the ideal companion for the armchair adventurer or the avid backpacker. Her familiar and conversational tone engages with the reader and allows the reader to experience some of the most out-of-reach terrains across the globe. With each compelling and fascinating story, the reader is drawn into Kathryn’s world, seeing, feeling, and tasting the world through her senses.

On each of her journeys, the RTÉ presenter makes it her duty to discover the very heart and soul of the many places she visits. Through her intimate and profoundly honest accounts, Kathryn opens our eyes to new cultures, traditions and people, as she recalls some of her most treasured memories from her years spent travelling the globe.
